Definition

A call for ideas is an announcement used when an organization or person looks for ideas on a specific topic or project. In the field of innovation, it is used to describe the types of ideas welcome to an innovation challenge.

 

A call for ideas can be quite broad or very specific. It typically includes the overall topic, the type of ideas in focus, and examples of what is not in focus. The screening criteria by which ideas are evaluated and the context of the project are often described in the call for ideas as well.
